Tiger Sheds – 20×10 Tiger XL Heavyweight Workshop Shed Review

This shed is manufactured by Tiger Sheds who are based in Yorkshire. They have built up a good online reputation over the years and have a large range of products. They sell two different 20×10 sheds although both very similar – The 20×10 Tiger XL Heavyweight Workshop Shed and the 20×10 Tiger Workman Apex Shed… the 20×10 Workman Apex has the doors on the longer 20ft side whereas the 20×10 Tiger XL Heavyweight Workshop has the doors on the 20ft side. Here we will take a closer look at the 20×10 Tiger XL Heavyweight Workshop but the same specifications do apply to both sheds.

When looking for a workshop, particularly one this size, you want to make sure it is made out of good long last material and it is tall. Look at both of these specifications in particular, Tiger Sheds ticks both of these boxes – the sheds are tall (2685mm at the ridge which is great for those who are taller than the average person) and the cladding is thick at 12mm and the eaves height (which is the height to the start of the roof slope) is also very reasonable at 1985mm.

The shed is dipped treated giving the shed a red cedar look. The windows can go at either side which you can choose as you assemble the building. The shed is made from shiplap cladding and the roof and floor is tongue and groove – this is important… if you want a long lasting shed then the roof and floor really needs to be tongue and groove rather than solid sheet materials / chipboard / OSB.

Key specifications of this 20×10 shed includes:

  • 12mm thick tongue and groove shiplap cladding;
  • 44x28mm framing;
  • 2685mm external ridge height;
  • 12mm thick tongue and groove roof and floor;
  • 10 windows which can go on either side;
  • Double doors with pre-installed lock and key;
  • Fully dipped treated inside and outside.

This is a great workshop shed and although takes longer to deliver than others, is worth the wait!

Waltons – 20×10 Overlap Double Door Apex Garden Workshop Review

Waltons – 20×10 Overlap Double Door Apex Garden Workshop Review

Waltons sheds are manufactured by Mercia Garden Products based in Newark and have been going a long time dealing and sold a lot of sheds. They are one of the bigger and more well known names in the industry due to the size of the operation and the quantity of sheds they sell.

A lot of their sheds are priced at the lower end of the market and so although you may not get the best quality from Waltons, you may find yourself able to get one at a really good price if your budget is a little lower.

Looking at the 20×10 Overlap Double Door Apex Workshop, this is priced very competitively. It is made from overlap cladding, where each board overlaps the board beneath (like a fence panel) which is not as good as shiplap or tongue and groove but does give the shed a more traditional look. The framing is 28x28mm which is also a little thinner than most others.

Usually this cladding and framing thickness is fine, but our concern that on a shed that large, it is important to go for a shed which thicker timber as it will give the shed more structure. We feel there will be a little too much flex in the walls with the materials used for a shed this size which is why, although this is fit for purpose, we would avised going for a thicker stronger shed if you need something that large.

On the other hand, if you are prepared to use this as the base shell of your new garden workshop shed, but are prepared to strengthen it, then due to the low cost – this may be the 20×10 shed for you.

The key features of this shed are:

  • Sand Felt Included;
  • 10 Year Anti Rot Guarantee;
  • 8mm Overlap Cladding;
  • Solid Sheet Board Floor & Roof;
  • Modular Design to allow easy assembly.

Garden Buildings Direct – 20×10 BillyOh Expert Tongue and Groove Apex Workshop Review

Garden Buildings Direct Review

Garden Buildings Direct – 20×10 BillyOh Expert Tongue and Groove Apex Workshop Review

Garden Buildings Direct are in the group Kybotech – another shed manufacturer based in Newark. Similar to Waltons, Garden Buildings Direct aim to be one of the cheaper sheds on the market and provide sheds in a quick time frame where you can choose the delivery date.

Taking a look at the 20×10 Expert Tongue and Groove Apex Workshop, there are a large umber of options for this shed. As standard it comes dip treated, but you can pay more (around £400) for it to be pressure treated.

As standard there is no floor, but you can upgrade to a tongue and groove floor, or pressure treated tongue and groove floor – in different thicknesses.

As standard the shed comes with no felt, but you can upgrade to the green mineral felt (for around £219). Therefore at first glance, this looks a very cheap shed – but we’d highly recommend ensuring you don’t miss these upgrades to find a shed arrive without a floor or without felt.

What is included:

  • T&G cladding
  • T&G Door – Double
  • Fixtures and fittings
  • Comprehensive Assembly Instructions

Sheds.co.uk – Adley 20′ x 10′ Premium Pressure Treated Double Door Shiplap Reverse Apex Workshop Review

Sheds.co.uk – Adley 20′ x 10′ Premium Pressure Treated Double Door Shiplap Reverse Apex Workshop Review

The 20×10 Adley Shed is pressure treated and comes with a double door which is positioned on the 20ft long side. Pressure treated sheds, if done well, are generally of a higher quality than dip treated sheds as they last longer, less prone to rot and usually come with a longer guarantee.

With this shed being modular, the doors can be put in a number of positions which you can choose when you build the shed – this is a very clever innovative idea.

One thing that puts this shed ahead of others is that the win dows open. Opening windows are very underrated when it comes to those hot Summer days working away in your shed… and is worth paying a little more more.

We also like how thick and strong the timber is, with thick cladding and framing, and a fully boarded tongue and groove roof and floor.

Other features include:

  • 12mm Tongue and Groove Roof and Floor
  • Heavy Duty Mineral felt roof covering as standard
  • Fitted with 3 x styrene glazed opening windows

This is a pressure treated shed with a 15 year guarantee.
